STIHL Recoil Pulleys
The recoil pulley is a small but essential part of a pull-start system. Also known as a rope rotor on some STIHL machines, it winds the starter rope around the pulley, transferring the recoil handle's movement into the mechanism that turns the engine over.
A worn, cracked or damaged pulley can affect how smoothly the starter operates and may prevent the rope from winding or retracting correctly. Replacing the pulley can therefore be a straightforward way to repair a recoil starter without replacing the entire assembly.
