STIHL Recoil Handles & Starter Ropes

The recoil handle and starter rope are the parts you pull on when starting a petrol-powered STIHL machine. With repeated use, the rope can fray or break, while the handle becomes cracked, worn, or detaches completely.

Replacing these individual components is often enough to restore a recoil starter without requiring the complete assembly to be replaced.

Replacement Recoil Handles & Ropes

Our range includes genuine aftermarket STIHL recoil starter handles, starter ropes and handle-and-rope assemblies for a wide variety of compatible machines.

Options include different rope diameters and handle designs, including ElastoStart handles and ropes used on selected STIHL equipment. For example, the range includes a 4.5mm ElastoStart rope for compatible TS400, TS410 and TS420 machines, as well as a complete TS410 ElastoStart recoil handle with rope.

Other applications use conventional recoil handles, such as the 4140-195-3400 handle specified for compatible STIHL machines.

Recoil Rope or Complete Starter Assembly?

A broken rope or damaged handle doesn't necessarily mean the entire recoil starter needs replacing. That said, at Garden Hire Spares, we also stock complete recoil starter assemblies and other recoil components.

If the pulley, recoil spring or starter mechanism is also damaged, a complete assembly or repair kit may be more appropriate.

Starter ropes and handles vary in diameter, length, handle design and attachment method, while ElastoStart components have their own specific applications. Always check your machine model and, where possible, the original part number before ordering.
