STIHL Crankcases

A crankcase houses many internal components of petrol-powered equipment. It supports the crankshaft and its bearings and seals, and encloses the lower part of the engine, keeping everything safe and functioning.

A damaged or worn crankcase will affect component alignment and operation, so if yours isn’t working as it should, replacement is the right move. Our range includes genuine aftermarket STIHL crankcases and crankcase halves for a variety of petrol-powered equipment.

Crankcases & Crankcase Halves

Depending on the model of your STIHL machine, you may need a complete crankcase or an individual crankcase half. Some assemblies also incorporate or accommodate components such as crankshaft bearings, oil seals, pins and connectors.

Our range includes components for both modern and older STIHL machines. So whether you have a STIHL TS410/TS420 or a MS341 chainsaw, you’re sure to find what you need with Garden Hire Spares.

When Might a Crankcase Need Replacing?

Crankcase damage happens from impact, excessive wear, mechanical failure or damage to the mounting and bearing areas. Depending on the fault, signs that the crankcase or associated components need attention may include:

  • Visible cracks or damage to the casing

  • Damage around bearing or mounting locations

  • Excessive movement within the crankcase

  • Oil leaks around seals or joints

  • Damage discovered during an engine rebuild

  • Wear affecting the correct positioning of internal components

Because components like the crankshaft, bearings and oil seals are so closely associated with the crankcase, damage to one part should prompt a proper inspection. After all, symptoms such as oil leakage or unusual engine movement can originate from other components, and you don’t want to replace the wrong part, only for the issue to continue.

Finding the Correct STIHL Crankcase

Crankcases are highly model-specific engine components. Different machines use different casing designs, dimensions, bearing arrangements and mounting points, and even similar models can have different crankcase specifications.

Before ordering, be sure to check your exact STIHL model and original part number. Also check whether you require a complete crankcase, a particular crankcase half or another associated component.

Our STIHL Parts Diagrams are useful for identifying the individual components within an engine assembly, but if you're still unsure which crankcase component you need, use our STIHL Part Identification Service for help identifying the correct replacement.
